  1. Past hour
  2. The 90 Harlem has been put as all novas since Tuesday
  3. When NICTD raised fares in the Hammond-East Chicago zone in response to a Metra fare hike, it did so to discourage Hegewisch passengers from using free parking in Hammond and East Chicago, as the Metra parking operator charges. I assume more parking will be provided in Hammond, as it has been from Miller east. The theory behind the Gateway Station was that the Hammond mayor wanted a place to transfer from West Lake [now Monon] corridor trains to [now] Lakeshore trains. Some maps had the new line swinging east to around Johnson Ave to a junction east of the Hammond station, but the actual construction was pretty much straight north over Hohman Ave and the swamps around the Grand Calumet River. BTW, with the demise of Hammond Transit, access to what's left of downtown isn't too convenient. When the Dan Rabin TC was still open, I was thinking about a rail station there, but it isn't.
  4. Today
  5. While I suppose it makes sense to have only one Hammond station and Sheffield is pretty close to Holman Ave, I still wonder if there would be any added incentive for those people to make the quick drive to Hegewisch and save money on the fares? The only problem may be lack of parking there since Hegewisch is the line's busiest station. At least Hegewisch and Hammond passengers can use both Gary/Michigan City/South Bend trains as well as West Lake Corridor trains
  6. #1846 was towed from K to SS this morning, I'll check it out later on this evening to see if it's terminal or not, that bus has ran since the 20th of March.
  7. It's a decision made by management at the garage.
  8. #8663 & #8667 have entered service out of C.
  9. Link Seems about a month ahead of schedule. Also noted on their website is that the Hammond station will move to the Hammond Gateway station and close in Spring 2024. That wasn't clear before. From the notice of track work at the Hegewisch station and the Construction Update that streets through Calumet Ave. will be closed, it looks like part of the West Lake Corridor project is rebuilding the main line up to about where it joins the Toll Road.
  10. Looks like the South Shore Double Track Project between Gary & Dune Park will be completed on April 9th and normal rail service between Chicago and Michigan City & South Bend will resume at that time. A new schedule will be updated at a later time with 14 additional trains added for expanded service and the running time between Millennium Park & Michigan City will decrease from 1hr 40 minutes to 1hr and 07 minutes.
  11. CNN on how NYC Congestion Pricing is supposed to work. Seems a bit intrusive, but, locally, Evanston uses license plate readers to enforce its Wheel Tax (instead of city stickers).
  12. 1700 and 1735 are a part of the higher flyer range, that really makes me wonder if they get to stay.
  13. Yesterday
  14. I might add that on the CTA side, it may add impetus for the busway, but now that seems limited to charter buses to McCormick Place. (Yelp reference)
  15. They've been talking about that 15th/Clark station for the red line for years now. They want the Related Companies to pay for most of it, since it would benefit their 78 construction plans.
  16. Renderings/Propaganda point out the Roosevelt Red/Green/Orange station. But Sox now have the 35th Red, Green, and RI stations.
  17. The Bears are engaged in b.s.ing No one believes they will sink $2B in a stadium they don't own, and it's now coming out that they want $1B in infrastructure, . the right to build hotels, restaurants, sportsbooks, etc. Even if Friends of the Park can't stop a publicly owned stadium that would be rented to the Fire, etc. (sort of like Wintrust Arena also rents to the Sky, even though DePaul put money into it), the other accessory uses won't be built east of the ME. Maybe over it (the going nowhere Central Station transit hub). As far as CTA, it will go to where the demand is, and Michael Reese has the 27th St. ME stop. But I suppose that those who want to go to PNC Bears Stadium at Parc Arlington will have to take the Metra Northwest Service.
  18. I get your sentiment. I was more curious about expanding transit options should the Bears actually get to build their new stadium. I don't think anything really changes if a VERY BIG UF, the Sox managed to get a new stadium built at the 78. The climate may be against it now but could change.
  19. Not one cent of tax money for these thieves! Both of them already screwed us taxpayers out of hundreds of millions in bonds & interest over the last 30 years. The Bears are worth well over $6 billion, so go to the banks & borrow the money, using the team as collateral! But the rotten to the core McCaskeys don't want to spend anymore money, after throwing away about $200 million to buy & demolish Arlington Park. Their original plan for developing the site was to put a new stadium, a half mile from the current train station, which is about as stupid as the Bears have been in choosing quarterbacks over the last 30 years! Every year, before the season starts, the McCaskeys get to divide up something close to $100 million in TV revenue the NFL gets from all the networks that show the football games! Chicago is stuck paying off all the bonds issued to rebuild Soldier Field, which is a few hundred million, when all the interest is added in. The McCaskeys demanded that & that incompetent fool Richie Daley fell for it! And Reinsdorf is worth a couple of billion, you already have a relatively new ballpark, but no one wants to go there because you are a cheap jerk & won't spend the money to field a decent winning team, so go to hell! The other reason no one wants to go there is Reinsdorf had everything bulldozed around the park, even McCuddy's Tavern, so no one has any reason to stay around before or after a game to eat or drink. The stupidity of that is evident by the extremely lively neighborhood of Wrigleyville. As Allan Sanderson of the University of Chicago has stated multiple times, building these multi-billion dollar idiocies aren't worth the costs to taxpayers, as they are money pits that lose money like crazy! The Ricketts family paid their own money to fix up Wrigley Field, buy up a few properties around the area & build a hotel & the Triangle Building on the old Sahara coal yard. If they could do it, so can the Bears & White Sox. If either team doesn't like paying for their own stadiums, you're free to move someplace else & find suckers there to pay for them, but not us!
  20. We know that both the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox are looking for new stadiums. The Sox are looking for help to build their new stadium on the site of the 78, roughly at Clark and Roosevelt between the Rock Island tracks and the Chicago River. The Bears were initially focused on the Arlington Park property they purchased from Churchill Downs, but now their focus has shifted to the south lot just south of the current Soldier Field. Admittedly transit access to that location is a big concern. How can CTA help address this problem? Friends of the Park has proposed the old Michael Reese Hospital site as a better alternative for a new domed Bears stadium but transit access would still be a big if not bigger concern there . Somewhere Lori Lightfoot is smirking, saying " I told you so!"
  21. I don't think any garage will, and especially not C if it is supposed to get electric buses, although it seems to have trouble keeping them on the street. Indications are that each garage will end up with about 150 Novas and 65 1000s. more or less, such as depending on how many artics and how many buses are OOS. In that 74th only has 8000s (and maybe 8200s), it's probably due for some 8350s, too, but has been pointed out, the drivers need training.
  22. My bad I forgot that I asked before, on a side note do you think C would be the first garage to completely replace all of its 1000s with the 8350s? There’s a lot to still come so it will be interesting to see the moves.
  23. that as well, this is also prob in preparations of the 8700’s (8700-8749) coming soon and prob gonna head to K as C is looking to get the remaining deliveries of the 8650-8699 range
  24. Busjack

    More Bus Moves

Also K having recently received Novas.
  25. If you read in the proper topic or above--CTA picked up all the options. The remaining about 250 buses should show up by this time next year. A search of this topic shows that someone named @Javi75asked the same question and got the same answer on Jan. 18. So, why ask again?
  26. My response is the same as in what you quoted. It isn't going to get any better just firing him if you can't answer the questions I posed there. As I said before, Carter can't have s-x with his slaves to increase the inventory of workers. CTA at least has the Meeting the Moment Plan, and noted that : Although I don't have any way of verifying it, CTA claims So, what's your plan? As I indicated, firing Marc Tressman didn't make the Bears any better. Neither did firing John Fox. Trading Justin Fields will work only if Caleb Williams works out.
  27. I wasn't saying get rid of him cause it was only 3 buses on the 28 but he needs to go for overall slow hiring process not getting a handle on ghost buses for having enough buses/trains out etc not taking the public seriously it a mix of things things that he can control
  28. What are the delivery speeds of 8350s compared to the 7900s and 1000s? Are the 8350s having a faster or slower rollout than the 7900s? Could CTA pick up all options before Nova shuts down production in the US?
