  1. I want them gone 😅, I hated having them on the 4 and 79 during the winter and spring pick, they're so slow and the 40 footers that are out there with me would always hang behind me.

  2. Nah I hope they keep them lol 77th is a spoiled garage when it comes to their fleet. A few yrs back 77th operators complained about artics being on 79th and that’s when they had the upper 4300’s for a short time but they didn’t want to drive them on 79th and eventually they got their wish lol. Due to the pandemic of course they came back and they need to stay there lol.

  4. I was told by a Metra exec, they are seriously thinking of service every half hour middays on the UPN soon. They are also want to eliminate the 2 hour break in service each morning on the UPN, since that's a vestige of when both Tempel Steel & S&C Electric had freight service from the Northwestern. There's isn't any freight traffic on the UPN south of Lake Bluff anymore, because the service out of the North Ave. Yard is totally on its own track, east of the tracks Metra uses. Those few freight cars that go in & out of North Ave., are brought in overnight & never interfere w

  5. Oh, yes. Kedzie did receive or is receiving the 1200s and 1700s in small grouplets now. The 1230-1246 (except possibly 1236, which may still be at FG) grouplet and the 1703-1709 grouplet are now at K (and these grouplets include buses that have already been at K for a few months prior to the latest moves). This is because the UofC is reducing its operations for the summer (with the 171 and the 172 being reduced to weekday-rush-only operation until Fall); therefore, 103rd needs fewer 40-foot buses than what it had prior to this weekend. And NP received the upper 4100s and the 4200s from bo

  8. I would say CTA might as well buy new artics for the other garages: 103rd, Kedzie, & North Park. My personal 2 cents.

  9. Chiming in to say the artics need to remain at 77th. I shall never be dissuaded!

  11. No, I think he was saying he operates them two days out of the week. I currently operate the 2 and they don't use artics.

  12. Yeah I'm just as lost as you are, my first thought was maybe 103rd is short but that doesnt seem to be the case, I know were short for sure at least for the pm rush periods but my only other guess is mileage swapping going on although C and K didn't receive anything back in return. I think the bigger piece to the puzzle is the #4000s and dormant #6400s, will they get moved or stay put? So far this month C has lost quite a few buses to Covid19 prep and 103rd. How many more will they lose?

  13. Metra shuttles are the 120-125. Since 77th was likely not as busy for the AM rush that is why they took on those routes to ease the strain on the garage before them. As far as everything at 95th being one group, the period after the 2010 cuts led to LOTS of route sharing and huge amounts of interlining. Anything coming into 95th red rarely came out on the same route even on a Sunday. 134 and 143 each borrowed a run from the 26 in the AM, and there was the infamous 145/148 combo. The decrowding plan basically solved a lot of operationally inefficiencies, yes the buses and trains were still crow

  14. Purple and yellow will probably be tested simultaneously with a 6 on the purple and 2 sets of 2 on the yellow as was done with the 5000s

  15. Well if 77th was loaning to 103rd for a morning piece you gotta remember 77th is more likely to have spare equipment in the morning as a PM heavy garage. Thats partially why they ended up taking the Metra Shuttles. That’s how I’ve always seen loans happen since high school. 103rd has always borrowed from 77th mainly durijg mornings cause their AM requirements are a bit higher than the PM. If anything there used to be a 3 way dependency, 74th was involved in frequent loaning to 7 and 03 (also had to help out with 108 in the mornings) but that ended when decrowding put an end to the wild interli
