  1. When I sit next to the rear side windows of the 8325 spec I have a clear view out. With other buses the bottom of the hopper is in the way. 😒
  2. I hope I can ask this question without derailing this thread. I just searched for the wheelbase of the 40ft Novabus LFS and it was 244in. The 40ft New Flyer DLF has a wheelbase of 293in. To the operators on this site - are those differences good, bad, or indifferent?
  3. Will the forthcoming Nova's have rear windows or not?
  4. This afternoon close to 4:30pm I think I saw 700 working #79 westbound at Cheltenham MED station.
  5. I visited Minneapolis in 2009 and rode some Gilligs there. I thought they were great. I like the BRT fronts.
  6. I'm curious - when the door is functioning properly and the operator unlocks it and the light is green, how long should it take the door to open after I "touch here"? It seems to take longer than if the rider is exiting from the rear of CTA's present 40ft bus. For my $0.02 please open the rear door "the same as the front". Thanks!!!
  7. I think CTA could reduce the dwell time of its artic buses if it did one of the following: 1. have the driver open the rear doors vs unlocking them and the passenger pushing the door 2. change the rear doors to doors 4 panels not 2. [think of exit doors on bus number 8499 with touch bars]. The slide and glide door is too heavy if the passenger must push it to activate it.
  8. Hi All; Does anyone know when the UPN Ravenswood station is scheduled to be completed? Trains have been running right handed at Rogers Park because of the inbound platform work.
  9. Thanks! I forgot about that one.
  10. Has CTA ever used wraps designed to get expressway drivers out of their cars and onto the 'L' ?
  11. Thanks for the info! If I ever visit Philly again I must check that out.😀
  12. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
  13. I have only ridden Gilligs (flat and BRT fronts) in Minneapolis when I visited in 2009. I thought they were comfortable. Personally I would trade all the Novas for Gilligs with BRT fronts. BTW, up here in Rogers Park I've seen Gilligs working the INTERCAMPUS shuttle (NU maybe?) on Clark, Morse and Sheridan I think. Maybe they do fit the 'big-city image' after all.
  14. Hi All; Remember my post from 9/22/2020 about riding MED to McCormick Place? Today I was on the same train heading to Millenium Station and it made a flag stop on the outside track at McCormick Place. This time two CPD bicycle officers got on the train on the outside track. Now I have seen it all.
  15. Did the lights flicker like that to your eyes or was that a function of your camera?
  16. Please pardon me for not having pics but today [10/7/2020] a little after 12:00pm I saw a 4 car train of 2400s (work motors?) southbound approaching Cermak. I noticed (from 21st Street by the tracks) that it had 4 Skokie Swift signs (on the operator's side of the train). Any significance?
  17. Another thing I thought about yesterday, in the fall of 1972 I was a freshman at IIT and I remember the 27th street crash.
  18. Hi All; Some of you may have boarded or alighted MED at a flag stop but today my experience was different [for me at least]. I boarded the MED train at the South Chicago terminal which departed at 10:50am Tuesday. I thought the website indicated that McCormick Place was a regular stop but I was mistaken (per the conductor announcement). I noticed we ran on the outside tracks on the mainline. I indicated to the trainman that I wished to get off at McCormick Place [single island platform station]. Passing 27th Street Michael Reese and still on the outside tracks I wondered what was up. We
  19. I just rode an 83xx eastbound on route 95 between the 95th Red Line terminal and Jeffery. I regret not getting the full bus number because it was the bumpiest ride I have had on this route. I know streets on this route can be bad [BTW, route 95 goes under 6 underpasses] but this was terrible. 😟
  20. I passed by a northbound J14 on Jeffery near 89th street (a 4K artic) between 7:30pm and 8:00pm tonight. It had the same sign. The bus was not full, in fact I don't think there were 5 passengers on it. 😳
  21. Thanks for the update! Good on you CTA 👌
  22. I was eastbound on the Blue Line at 11:35am and sat at the 'B' end of car 3406. I noticed the glass was missing from the end window [on the NON controller side]. I took two pictures but I am having trouble loading them.
  23. Have the A/C units on the 1000s always made as much noise as they seem to now? I did not notice the sound until somewhat recently.
