  2. The question is, did the CSL have these models? The two Yellow buses were more for suburban/interurban travel and did not have room for standees.
  3. I'm trying to do some research on a few retired (read old) models but I'm having a little difficulty. At the moment I'm just trying to pin down some basic numbers and info for these buses: length, seats, engine, etc. The ones in question are: Yellow Coach Y-L-238 Yellow Coach X-M-284 White Motor Co. 788 GM TDH 4509 So far, the internet has failed me. Don't know if anyone can point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I suppose that's quite possible. I could have sworn it was an F40, but then again it was raining quite hard and I was already an hour and a half late for my cousins' graduation, so...
  5. While out driving along Grand in yesterday's torrential downpour, I could have sworn I saw an F40 that had been given the new scheme that I'm used to seeing on the MP36PH-3Ss. Anybody else see/know about this?

  7. I've seen roll signs, on auction, but never the box itself. I've got one of the curtains from '92 that has all the old route names, but also the new color designations. It was from a 3200, so it would be nice to be able to install it in the proper mechanism.
  8. If it's like that at Western, then it's probably different now. Haven't actually seen an X in some time. (Now that I think about it, I haven't seen one since the Rave rebuild.) But the placement of the Xs on the old Ravenswood stations (pre-rebuild) were there for the modern cars, not the wooden ones. If a 3200 (most modern at the time) overshot an X, the doors opened onto a fool catcher or a lot of air as it was in this case.
  9. Oh I get what you're saying, but (at least in the "old days") if you're a foot or two past the X the doors aren't on the platform. At all. And that's how it was on the old Ravenswood stations.
  10. The X is relative to the front of the train to let the motorman/operator know if the doors are on the platform.
  11. Nope. That's what the X denotes. You pass the X, you're in the shit now. (My father used to be in signage/graphics/whatever-the-hell-they-called-it-this-week and did a lot of work with berth markers in his time.)
  12. Given that the rehabbed cars are having their roller curtains replaced with LED displays, has anyone tried getting a sign box from CTA?
  13. Back during the rehab on the Brown I was doing a lot of photographing of the old stations before they were gone and so spent a lot of time on the Ravenswod branch. One time we came flying into either Irving Park or Montrose stopped hard and ended up well ahead of the the X. The operator opened the doors then came flying out of the cab to prevent anyone from using the first door. Luckily no one was there.
  14. You finally got wheels! Looks good. But, um, you overshot the berth markers a bit at Belmont and had to reverse. That's a no-no.
