  1. F40 repainting?

While out driving along Grand in yesterday's torrential downpour, I could have sworn I saw an F40 that had been given the new scheme that I'm used to seeing on the MP36PH-3Ss. Anybody else see/know about this?
  2. Addison/Blue line Rendering

BusHunter wants someone to murder the staircase?!
  3. I'm trying to do some research on a few retired (read old) models but I'm having a little difficulty. At the moment I'm just trying to pin down some basic numbers and info for these buses: length, seats, engine, etc. The ones in question are: Yellow Coach Y-L-238 Yellow Coach X-M-284 White Motor Co. 788 GM TDH 4509 So far, the internet has failed me. Don't know if anyone can point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Looking for old bus roster-type info

The question is, did the CSL have these models? The two Yellow buses were more for suburban/interurban travel and did not have room for standees.

    Excellent work all around.
  6. F40 repainting?

I suppose that's quite possible. I could have sworn it was an F40, but then again it was raining quite hard and I was already an hour and a half late for my cousins' graduation, so...
  7. Seating layout change in car 5520

I've seen several on the Red Line with this change over the past few months.
  8. CTA Video: Ride The Rails

I asked about this when the Pink opened and that was the answer that I got. I don't see why that's such a big deal since they can transfer to Green at Clinton. Hell, if you want to get to Clark first from the Mart, ride the Evanston; if you want Washington transfer to the Rave. If you want to get to Library from Roosevelt take the Orange or if you want Adams, take green. There are options this way.
  9. 3200-series - Rehabs

I've seen roll signs, on auction, but never the box itself. I've got one of the curtains from '92 that has all the old route names, but also the new color designations. It was from a 3200, so it would be nice to be able to install it in the proper mechanism.
  10. CTA in Train Simulator

If it's like that at Western, then it's probably different now. Haven't actually seen an X in some time. (Now that I think about it, I haven't seen one since the Rave rebuild.) But the placement of the Xs on the old Ravenswood stations (pre-rebuild) were there for the modern cars, not the wooden ones. If a 3200 (most modern at the time) overshot an X, the doors opened onto a fool catcher or a lot of air as it was in this case.
  11. CTA in Train Simulator

Oh I get what you're saying, but (at least in the "old days") if you're a foot or two past the X the doors aren't on the platform. At all. And that's how it was on the old Ravenswood stations.
  12. CTA in Train Simulator

The X is relative to the front of the train to let the motorman/operator know if the doors are on the platform.
  13. CTA in Train Simulator

Nope. That's what the X denotes. You pass the X, you're in the shit now. (My father used to be in signage/graphics/whatever-the-hell-they-called-it-this-week and did a lot of work with berth markers in his time.)
  14. 3200-series - Rehabs

Given that the rehabbed cars are having their roller curtains replaced with LED displays, has anyone tried getting a sign box from CTA?
  15. CTA in Train Simulator

Back during the rehab on the Brown I was doing a lot of photographing of the old stations before they were gone and so spent a lot of time on the Ravenswod branch. One time we came flying into either Irving Park or Montrose stopped hard and ended up well ahead of the the X. The operator opened the doors then came flying out of the cab to prevent anyone from using the first door. Luckily no one was there.
  16. CTA in Train Simulator

You finally got wheels! Looks good. But, um, you overshot the berth markers a bit at Belmont and had to reverse. That's a no-no.
  17. Rail Service Alerts-Discussion Thread

"L" cars don't have pilots. The things you see in front are snowplows.
  18. My CTA Lego stations

You should check out http://ctalayout.blogspot.com/ for ideas on building "L" structure for those MTH cars.
  19. Announcement question

Between 2006 and 2008 the Pink Line ran in conjunction with the Douglas Blue, although Douglas Blue was rush hour only at that point.
