Was by Perry Scrapyard the other day, #6276 is sitting amongst the scrap, tho the word "scrap" is not on it, it looks pretty rough with a lot of missing parts.. Might be on the dreaded list soon :(

well your suspicions are correct. #6276 has now been scrapped. This was also an unrehabbed bus. That makes #6003, #6071, #6089, #6098, #6115, #6146, #6226, #6276, #6311, #6313, #6315 and #6319 retired so far.

Wow, I cant believe #6185 is gone, I drove that bus many times. I even have video I shot aboard that bus working the #128 Bears shuttle one sunday.

Last night around 12:30am, I went past 47th/Kedzie, Flxible #6282 was T-boned by a speeding car while making a right turn off of 47th to the Orange Line sta. The damage wasant too serious. The bus was hit just behind the drivers side front tire. The car on the other hand wasant so lucky! I later met the driver at Holy Cross Hosp. she told me she was only on the job for two months and that this was her second accident.

Sounds like whoever was driving that car was an idiot, but the driver's not so innocent herself. She should at least know basic rules of driving a CTA bus.

T boned indicates that the bus driver was probably not at fault, unless she ran a red or violated a traffic law while turning, which isn't indicated in this description.

As noted on Pace buses (and probably also the rule at CTA), a driver is not charged with an accident in determining whether he or she has joined the million mile club, unless the accident was "avoidable."

They just showed breaking news on ABC7 of a collision between a van and a CTA bus. Chopper 7 showed the accident at 53rd/Artesian Flxible bus #6230 was involved. Chopper 7 gave a good view of the bus roof clearly showing the bus number.

When heading to work today, I got stuck riding the one 6000 working the 12 Roosevelt at the time, 6019. Surprise, surprise the A/C was not functioning, which left the bus hot and stuffy given the current above average temps. Just another reason I was not happy with this recent swap although I can at least take comfort in 74th getting some much needed newer equipment to work with. I know some of you are glad to see Kedzie have 6000s again, but try actually riding one while the temps are still pretty warm and the chances are the A/C won't be working.

Alot of #6000's from 74th have bad A/C. Maybe they were too overworked with 220 something of them to maintain. Kedzie will most likely straighten this out. There can't be too much wrong with the #1000's there anyway.

Well at least they're getting rid of the unrehabbed ones first, but it's still sad to see them go. Glad to see 301 of them still around at least.

I an shocked to see all of those 6300's gone, since they are the last of the fleet, are and have been housed indoors, and run on relatively short routes (out of 74th...less routes 8 and 9).

After looking back at BusHunter's list and seeing all of those 6300s gone, I am shocked as well. You'd think they'd be around longer.

They may not be the case for too long since the 4000s are finally coming in. Those 80 6000s at Kedzie and Chicago should be gone when the 4000s deliveries really gear up.

So when do you think all of the 6000s are going to be retired? Some are in very good condition still. Mostly all the one in FG are in great shape.

Up to half are supposed to get retired along with all the 5800s being added to the retirelment plans wih the already retiring 4400s and 5300s. While it looks like all the 5800s will be gone when the 4400s and 5300s go, no one can be sure when the half reitrement of the 6000s will be done since the 4000s are two months late. Any further 6000 retirements will surely depend on when CTA hopes to begin acquiring further buses from the previously mentioned RFP after getting all the 4000s in place.

November's update only has 1 #6000 retired, #6307, an unrehabbed cummins. This only leaves 16 cummins left, with the overall total at 300 left.

This morning I saw Flx 6032 working #62 Archer northbound at Dearborn and Jackson. I couldn't see the garage decal but the "old school" run number box showed a an "A".

You know, I saw the back of that Flxible when I got off the #24 at Harrison when I was going to school. I was starting to wonder why a Flxible was on Dearborn, since I couldn't recall any Kedzie routes on Dearborn, because I didn't see what route number it was running. I thought it must have been a reroute or something, but indeed, very shocking!

Not to mention, 6035 is currently on the Tracker.
