I wouldn't put too much stock into this.... these could be loaners from South Shops, a bus for bus temporary transfer.... maybe some of the other New Flyers assigned to FG are in the shop. Unless some more 8200's and/or some of the 8300's are being transferred....

That is possible, too. ;)

Well, while #1918 still at Forest Glen along with #1720 is on #68 (weird), #1848, #1896, and #1931 are back at North Park.

I think this is putting more weight to the possibility these were just temporary loans.

Which begs the question, how long do they expect the #6400's to last? Maybe they will eventually send more NF's FG's way. You would think with a summer pick on the horizon they wouldn't need buses at least for school runs.

Well 1590 has been at NP all week. It had been on the 49 and X49 during the previous several days before you spotted it on the 93. Up to that point no one new if it was serving NP or 74th because its only sighting had been on the 49/X49 up to that point. Your sighting after that answered the question of whether NP or 74th was using it.

That would be very weird to see #1590 at 74th due to the fact that 74th's 1500 block ends at #1551. However, that bus should be at Forest Glen. I swear NP and FG are getting weird with these borrow swaps as of lately.

Maybe they're starting to hit NPs flyers with TSP tech for the X49 so they might be down. 🤔🤔

As of today, that bus is back at FG.

Depends on what the temporary loans are for..... my 2 cents:

  • Repairs/Scheduled Maintenance for the 1000-Series New Flyers there(they have some of the oldest rehabbed buses, at 11 years old)
  • Large block of the 6400-Series Novas are down with issues and FG and South Shops need time to sort through and see what's salvageable and what's not. So loaners are needed to keep service on FG routes.

I would think the latter, as usually I see a lot of 1st Gen Novas during the week on #152, and it's been more New Flyer and 2nd Gen Novas(7900-Series).

Only issue on that one is that the buses were not rehabbed in order. Anyway, by that theory, 103 would be in far worse shape, and 21 of 26 1000s are on FG routes as of 8 a.m. (according to @maths22's tracker). But 77 6400s, too, which is about par for the course.

Do you think that the New Flyers (1000-1025) from Forest Glen garage will ever get move to different garages such as Chicago, Kedzie, North Park, 74th, 77th, and 103rd in the near future perhaps?

No bus is static, especially when CTA has 1030 of about the same, as the swap after the rehabs occurred shows.

That's similar betting to a member who said "FG will never get a new bus."

Don't forget, these buses started at Archer and then went to Chicago, and then 103rd.

Forgive me if I am having a senior moment but I seem to remember the low 1000`s  New Flyers originating on 62 Archer.

I believe that was when the buses were first delivered in 2006, when the lowest of the 1000s were assigned to the now-demolished Archer Garage. A couple of years later, the 1000s were swapped to the Chicago Garage in exchange for that garage's 6400-series Novas. Archer was then equipped entirely with old Novas until its closure.

That's correct, I remembered my goof in the shower, and corrected my post.

Getting back to the topic, in late 1995 (after receipt of the 6000s and 74th opened), the 4400s were reallocated, and essentially each garage ended up with 60-70 of them. The exceptions were that K only retained a few, and 77th and NP retained more. Each garage also had 5300s or 6000s, except NP had the 65 5800s.

weren't the 800's at Archer until 2007

The 800-809 hybrids were delivered in 2006. 802 and 803 went to Chicago 806 and 807 to Archer, the rest went to Kedzie. They entered service in early 2007 (I caught 6 of them in February 2007).

They were not at A and C for long, 802, 803, 806, 807 moved to Kedzie between 10/07 and the end of 2007.

The 900-909 hybrids were delivered in 2007 entering service in September - all at K.
