CTA Bus Garage Rosters

More likely in about 3 days, the question is will 74th lose more NF's? And will Chicago and 77th become all NF's? If we look at what's happening in CTA rail, the answer is most likely.

Does this move of FG losing all it's New Flyers(down to six at time of posting) and going 100% Nova Series I(getting upper 6400's now). Does this set a table, so to speak, that FG will be getting a chunk of the first few 7900's that roll in either in blocks or an even/odd split with another garage(74th is a possible candidate too, based on bus moves).

The way things are going, FG may get Novas going as far back to 6455-6465 and 74th might get them going up to wherever the cutoff of 6400's for FG is.

74th is sitting at 137 New Flyers. I don't think they'll lose all of them right now, but they might end up with about 95-105 after the lower 6400's up to the cutoff are put here from 77th.

I guess we'll know when they start to roll in for sure late April/early May, unless an insider can get some info about the garage assignments pending in advance...

Fg has about 63 first year Novas. add in a possible 7 this weekend for 70 and up to 20 for Diversey 90. 74th has around 110 first year novas now and could get 50 more or 110 more if Chicago garages Novas come over to 74th. So then bottom line FG would have 90 and 74th maybe 220.

Now what is wrong with that scenario or the transfers is if they go even/odd 74th/fg, then after 90 buses at Fg you are left with all last year Novas to replace. If you go with 74th only for new buses, then Fg is going to be running #6400's and #6500's until next year. What should have been done was 74th and Fg should have got an equal amount of same age buses and then they could go even/odd for the whole order. Now I don't know what they'll do.

My take on this Nova situation is that they should just leave well enough alone after the final 6 NFs at FG are more likely than not transferred out this weekend. As it already stands now 77th is currently down to roughly the same number of Novas as Chicago. NP, Kedzie and 103rd will obviously will be fine without getting new buses since they have all NFs and what NFs are 40 footers are going to see rehabs. To keep FG from taking more than a year replacing old buses 12 years and older in age, the distribution of Novas as it currently stands, save trading out the last six NFs, is an optimal spot to stop swapping out anymore NFs among the garages for Novas. I agree with BusHunter about the 7900s not just getting concentrated mainly at just two garages.

The way I see it, I think only 3 garages will have the newbies, 77th, 74th, and FG. While it may be possible that Chicago could get some, the fact that they now have artics and most of the highest numbered New Flyers makes me think that they will not see new Novas, but may receive older New Flyers from somewhere else to replace their old Novas. The crazy bus swapping going on makes me think that FG may actually get first dibs on the new Novas. If that would be the case, then I assume 77th would be last to get them. Yet we've seen stranger things happen at CTA.

If I recall, 6726 is the Nova that was not painted. It actually looked like the front was primer awaiting paint, you could not see any physical damage on it or 6738 from the other side of the fence. 6832 was against the fence with the rear of the bus facing it.

Not finding the story on #6726, but I think it was involved in a frontal collision. No physical damage on the front and primer coating awaiting a paint job sounds like they had plans to put it back into service, but something put the kabbash on that.

Just for taking pics? What happens if I get video of #7900 being driven about South Shops from the interior, can I be Emperor? :P:lol:

Well no one seems to have a picture of #6832 and if he's willing to try to take a picture of #6726, he gets my vote!! Of course you could be emperor if you got some videos of the inside of the Nova bus factory with these buses on the assembly line, but then I would say you were extra-terrestrial with the powers of stealth and bi location.

I don't think we need a picture of 6832, as there was an adequate one in the news when it happened. Also, remembering that, there seems to be a good reason why the back is facing the property line.

Well I never saw it and i looked too. Without any evidence, I'll have to dismiss your claims as hearsay. Anyway a back photo is good. I wouldn't be surprised if the front was cut off that bus anyway.

It appears these buses are about to be retired.

Maybe technically, but retired after being a long time in the coroner's office.

I remember getting in a flame with some ... from New Jersey, who thought there was some significance to 6832 being on the long term hold list. Here the only technicality seems to be that it, like all the Novas, was on some sort of 12-year financial lease.

Here they are guys!

If there's Flyer D901's, M.A.N Americanas, and TMC's still floating in those yards, I double-dog dare you to post pictures...

To quote Clint Eastwood... "Go ahead, punk... make my day!" :P:lol:

I'll be impressed if there are buses from each group still there, and even more impressed if you can snap photos of them...

It's possible... look at the GM Fishbowls still there.

LOL! I don't think any Flyers nor Americanas are out there (I might have to go bus hunting to different garages). There is a Narrow TMC and a couple of Fishbowls out there but that's going to be hard as hell to have some better shots of them. This warmup weather is going to make it even harder because I'm going to lose my stacked up snowy hill on 77th side of the fence that assisted me to take some shots of the cleaning station and a mix of unscrapped Flxibles 5300s and 6000s, one narrow TMC, and a green GM 7400s. I accept your double dare though!!! :p

The only throwback buses they still have are the few Artic NABI's, a flixible 6000 series which is of course a work bus, the 3 5900 series buses sitting there and the old fishbowl bus. They had a few man buses sitting there awhile ago but has since been removed. When I 1st started in 2012 we had to go to 77th for training before we went to our respective garages, and we gotta good tour of the yard and got a good look at all the buses both current and the few old buses I mentioned.

Yeah Americana 4240 as mentioned by other members is still around as pretty much nothing more than a maintenance storage locker and photographed as such a few years ago in one of our past threads, but it's not sitting down at the South Shops area. And what few D901As that survived as work buses may have finally been retired from such usage with 6000s and now some 6400s being put into work bus uses.
