No Purple Express During Brown Line Bridge Reroute

Yeah, but what is the reason? They never said anything about this prior to the work, so it leads me to believe something happened and they weren't able to finish on time.

Before we go jumping to too many unnecessary conclusions, let's remember that that any work on the Lake/Wells junction is separate from the Wells Street Bridge work. The CTA just decided to take the March 2 & 3 and March 9 and 10 weekends as their opportunities to do further work on the junction since the bridge being closed March 1-11 by the City meant far fewer trains would be running through there with the Brown Line short stopping at Merchandise Mart or Chicago Avenue and Pink, Orange and Green Lines of course less busy on weekends than weekdays. Remember we had the various Loop reroutes during weekends throughout spring, summer and part of the fall of 2012 to work on the Wells and Van Buren portions of the Loop as well as that very junction.

That's undoubtedly the case. What may have prompted the original post was that all the news coverage was "service is back to normal," "the Mayor rode the train," etc., instead of "service is back to normal except that Purple Line is running in the other direction in the Loop." Still not as big an inconvenience as not running at all.

Were the alerts prominently posted at the stations?

Oh I agree, but there was no notice of this re-route & even with all the changes during the previous re-routes, nothing affected rush hour service.

Today (Tuesday) there was no email alert issued or anything posted on Twitter as they did on Monday, so I imagine this has to be catching some people off guard. The only notice today has been the alerts posted on the CTA website. They do have an upcoming alert for the PM rush, so it seems like it will not be resolved today. Not sure about Wednesday yet, I didn't see any upcoming alerts.
