So after doing some research I came across the thread of NF #1000's, #800's, #900's Delivery (street) dates, Factory Dates, Lifetime Assignments (WIP) and noticed #1001-#1020 were produced in 2005 and delivered in early 2006. It leaves me to wonder when they'll get retired. They're technically the 2nd oldest batch of buses currently in the fleet behind the remaining 2001-2002 #6400's at 15 years old to them being close to 18-20 years old. I know it may be a bit early on to start questioning retirements but some are really starting to show there age more and more each day.

In my opinion the 1000 series New Flyers May last longer than the 6400 novas or at least 20yrs. It’s 1,030 of them and it’s going to take a long time for them all to get replaced just look how long it’s taken the 6400 Novas to get replaced it’s 20 going on 21yrs to replace 484 of them now imagine how long it’ll take to retire and replace 1,030 New Flyers. Hopefully I’m wrong tho but we’ll see. It really makes me wish The 6000 flixible lasted at least till 2015 that woulda gave them a good 20yrs too lol.

Yeah I don't want to jump the gun to early but it's just something to think about, #1125 is still on my radar along with #1245 and #1925. Whenever I see a #1000 in the boneyard I try not to think much of it other than it awaiting maintenance but after seeing #1993 back there suddenly last year and #1245 most recently this summer just makes you wonder how long do some of the oldest ones have left? I'll admit they've held up great but up to this point but you have to factor in the bad apples eventually getting knocked off first. It's just speculation at this point for me.I do believe some are getting 2nd small tier rehabs though while others are getting left in the dust living out there final days untouched.

Yea I think 1993 done with u also think 1805 done with its been 3 years untouched & also 4119 it just sits there with its hood open so I think they maybe ripping parts from it far as 1925 not sure yet only time will tell but you gotta look at it most of the flyers are 11 years old now FTA says 12 years before they can start knocking them off you see how they knocked 1821 off

Since it is 12 years old now seeing #1805 come back would be shocking at this point. It has been been OOS since 2017 and we're nearing 2021 soon. Oddly enough the bus wasn't even 10 years old yet when the accident happened because it was delivered in early August of 2008 and was one year shy of making it to ten.

Even though it'll be hard to do i'll try to monitor every #1000 I encounter moving forward to see which of them would be up for the chopping block. There's a handful right now that I know for a fact are slow lemons and frequent SS a lot.

Well #1482 came back and no one thought a bus cut in half would ever drive chicago streets again. The #1000s are getting older now and are starting to show their age. The low numbered ones are 14 years old. So if it's something major I would shy away from fixing it. The #1900s though are 11 years old. So maybe just maybe. They could get more love than a #1000. But alot depends on fleet mileage too. Probably alot of the 1930s to 2029 will end up with lower miles because chicago is running a pretty good amount of #8100s and they have some of fgs buses to add to that. I would expect the 1200s and 1300s to have the highest miles but the offset is the 1200s were at fg for a time so possibly some of those are not so bad. Typically 77th is a garage that goes through buses. There lots of demand and long routes which pack on the miles. You got to ask yourself how can an #88 put miles on a bus when it layovers every 30 minutes while a halsted may not layover for an hour or more.

Yeah, I agree. I just have a small hunch that there is 2nd tier rehabs going on secretly at SS and whenever its one of our buses from 77th I can tell based on the way the bus operates and handles. #1343 had that fresh look to it as well along with having less than 300 miles on it in total which was much faster than the bus I got the next day. #1329 felt so worn out and had nearly 200,000 miles on it. The turn radius also felt off as well compared to what I was use to #1315 has that issue as well now that I think about it. All in all whenever they do start retiring i'd hope it won't be from 77th first as much as they take a beating down here.

When they start retiring the 10's big time they gone retire from C & FG like they did the 64's when the new buses come in 7 gone get first dibs & the 12's & 13's or if they do another big swap whatever y'all got gone move to 6 C & K then 6 gone get some then they gone continue to move those west & north which C gone retire some but most FG gone retire

Anyone have an idea of why 1227 to 1235 always seem to move from either 103rd or Kedzie (1230/1/5) for the last few days of each month? They always move back the first day of the next month. This has happened since Sep-2020.

1227-1229, 1232-1234 moved from 77th to 103rd that month. 1230/1/5 moved to Kedzie earlier in 2020.

Something to do with servicing artics at the end of the month?

Umm as far as I know 1227 1229 1232 1233 1234 were at 103rd and 1230 1231 1235 were at kedzie for the entire time between last summer and now. I don't think they moved so I don't know what happened

OK thanks. I found out it was a mistake in how I was looking at the data from bustracker!

I wouldn't necessarily say in 2021 but don't be surprised to see some major changes come by early 2022.

Yeah I didn't include #1760 and #1925 for obvious reasons.
