Guidelines
Chicago Transit Forum seeks to encourage a welcoming and vibrant online community. Therefore, we ask that you please review and adhere to the following guidelines:
-
Act appropriately. Members should demonstrate a professional demeanor and respect others. Criticize ideas, not people. Personal attacks, whether overt or implied, are not acceptable.
-
No disruptive behavior. Disruptive behavior can include any activity which negatively impacts the community. Examples can include off-topic or irrelevant posts, excessive posting, replying to old and inactive topics, using improper capitalization or punctuation, or any other activity which disrupts the normal flow of conversation.
-
Backup facts and explain your positions. If making a statement of fact, always provide supporting evidence. For opinions or suggestions, always provide justification for your position. For example, do not suggest changes to CTA routes or operations without providing reasonable justification.
-
Obey copyright laws. Do not upload photos or attachments unless you own the file or have permission from the author to post it. Do not quote written copyrighted material, such as news articles, in their entirety.
- No commercial advertising. You may not use the forums for the purpose of commercial advertising. You may, however, solicit feedback and suggestions for products based on CTA's developer APIs provided that you disclose your involvement in the application.
Repercussions and Warning Points
Posts violating the community guidelines are subject to deletion. In addition, warning points may be assigned to your account.
Abusive behavior, such as personal attacks, will result in the assignment of 2 points. Most other infractions will result in the assignment of 1 point. Points are automatically removed 180 days after assignment.
Your account is subject to the following restrictions based on the number of assigned warning points:
1 point - Verbal Warning Only
2 points - 3-day posting suspension
3 points - 7-day posting suspension
4 points - 30-day posting suspension
5 points - Permanent posting suspension
