dauber
I'm sure you folks all know about this site, the Illinois Railway Museum selling used CTA signs: http://www2.irm.org/about/ctasigns.html I'd really, really love to get a Red Line card (or even a vintage equivalent of "Howard Main Line") to decorate the home office. Problem is, they NEVER have them available; all other lines, yep, but not the Red Line. (I know, ctastore.com sells 'em, but I'm NOT paying $36 for a repro that's not even full-sized!) However... The Illinois Railway Museum has two COMPLETE sets of pre-Pink Line car cards -- one for $200, and a slightly damaged one for $180. This has all eight car cards -- one of each (pre-Pink) line, and one system map. Now...I don't want to buy the whole thing just for one card. Would anybody be interested in going in on this?? I'm not 100% sure how the shipping would figure -- it's $10 per "tube item," but I'm not sure if they'd ship all of this in one tube. Assuming that were the case, the total cost for a brand-new set would be $210, which would be $26.25 per person if seven others want in on this. (Of course, I'd have dibs on the Red Line card!) (And of course, I'm assuming $190 total for the "damaged" set, meaning $23.75 a person...) Thoughts????
Scionic
I've created some dead-on (IMO) reproductions of the Red and Blue line signs in Illustrator, I just haven't had a chance to have them printed yet. I started on the Orange and Green lines too, but never finished 'em. I could send them your way and you could go from there? Northsider
Buy them? Hell, I used to just snag them before they started really bolting them up there (now you can't get them easily without tearing them).
