Glennwood Road Ent. Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 New thread here https://www.statecollege.com/articles/local-news/10-retired-cata-buses-bound-for-2028-la-olympic-and-paralympic-games/#google_vignette Looks like we're beginning to see some transit agencies across the USA to step up & begin donating retired out buses to LA Metro in anticipation of the 2028 Olympics. The Centre Area Transportation Authority in State College, PA has donated ten NFI XN40s. The LA28 Summer Olympics will be “car-free. BTW, I'm going to Los Angeles next month for my vacation to check out the USA's second largest transportation system. Quote
Glennwood Road Ent. Posted September 15 Author Report Posted September 15 Update Here. I'm going to Los Angeles by next weekend for my 3 day vacation to check out the transit system around LA County. I will dedicate this trip to my worker of mine and YouTuber ea90744 & EddieFlxible who both passed away from past June. Quote
Glennwood Road Ent. Posted November 25 Author Report Posted November 25 Hello there members of this forum here, From September 28th to 30th on my first visit in Los Angeles for my 3 day vacation trip in California. I have few photos and videos of LACMTA Buses and Light Rail Trains on my phone. This one is dedicated to my late worker of mine who was a Lakers Fan and YouTuber ea90744 & EddieFlxible who was a bus operator for LACMTA On September 28th, I took 2 photos of LACMTA 5653: 2014 New Flyer XN40 Xcelsior CNG passing by Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. At the time of these photos were taken, majority of the units were in the process of getting replaced with newer Cummins Westport L9N Engines during mid-life rehab and the old headlights were replaced with 2nd revision newer headlights. IIRC from mid-2010s during my junior/senior high school years, all of the 2013-16 New Flyer XN40 Xcelsior CNGs originally delivered with Cummins Westport ISL-G engines except for unit 4172 with the Near Zero ISL-G engine when it was new. Later that same evening, another unit with Los Angeles Kings hockey ad. VID_20250928_185406.mp4 On September 29th in Santa Monica I've spotted LACMTA 1093: 2014-20 Kinki Sharyo P3010 LRV Articulated passing on the new line extension. VID_20250929_114513.mp4 And on September 30th on my last day of 3 day vacation in Los Angeles , I've spotted LACMTA 1721: 2019-20 ENC Axess BRT CNG 40' around Downtown Los Angeles with Voith D864.6 turning right onto the corner. This was the first order for LACMTA to be reunited with Voith Transmission since SCRTD era order in 1988-89 respectively from Flxible. The new D864.6 transmission sounds loud and reminds me of Miami-Dade Transit 2019 XN40 and 2019-20 Gillig BRT Plus CNG order in Florida. VID_20250930_184233.mp4 And for my last one, LACMTA Bus division yard off I-10 freeway in DTLA. I spotted many NFI XN40s in the yard. VID_20250930_184619.mp4 And update: LACMTA has accepted an donation from CATA in Pennsylvania for 2011-12 New Flyer XN40 Xcelsior CNGs and another donation from San Diego Metropolitan Transit System for 2011-12 New Flyer C40LFR CNGs for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics shuttle system.
