jajuan
Given Bushunter's last post in the Bustracker thread speculating that 74th's other buses will be NOVAs or newer in late 2009, I'm just hoping that CTA doesn't revert back to the old trick of just shuffling in used buses displaced by newer ones from other garages to replace retired buses at 74th. The people in the south and southwest side neighborhoods served by 74th routes deserve better service than to keep being subjected to such an uneven hand being dealt. The areas involved are spread out and diverse, from South Shore to Hyde Park to Englewood to the Midway area, so I'm not suggesting any type of racial bias. However, giving reliable service on as many of the system's routes as possible does not include constantly shuffling in used buses in favor keeping the newest equipment elsewhere. Also with the region's capital funding problem, the remaining 1000s and the hybrid artics could likely be the last new buses for the system for years. So it would be nice to see 74th get actual new equipment and not constant hand me downs from other garages that are 'new' compared to what was scrapped at 74th. kendo26
I'm hoping for new equipment. 74th's equipment is tired. I ride the 44 almost everyday so I'm stoked.
