I was just looking at the webcam for Ill Railway Museum with today being Chicago Weekend, I see one CTAs retired exSeattle Artics running back and forth, has anyone else seen this? If anyone has been there lately what bus number is it? I didnt know one of the buses made it to the collection.

I was there this afternoon for the Chicago weekend and I rode on that bus! It was AWSOME! :) It is not an ex CTA bus because it is actually a trolley bus. They just got it in April and I think they said it was retired last year. It was a 1987 MAN obviously. I didn't write the # down but I'm sure the bus # was either 2040 or 4020 (which ever would fit that fleet). It ran very well and the interior was in very good shape too. Unfortunately if I remember correctly they said that was the only bus out of that group that was saved. :( By the way that was the only MAN artic I saw there, so I assume that was the one you saw, but I suppose there could have been another one that wasn't there today.

Man, I wish we had trackless trolleys in the Twin Cities.

I thought it was one of the retired CTA/Seattle artics, thats awesome that its a trackless. Seattles diesels were 2000s judging from the CTAs fleet. The MAN artic trolleys were 4000s in Seattles fleet, I have to go see it. I havent been to IRM since last year for the Antique exhibition in August. I will be there this year for that event. IRM is one of the most awesome places that you never get tired of visiting. I always look forward to a new season, you get to see newly aquired equipment. Last year it was exciting to finally see the arrival of the NYC Subway Redbirds, I cant wait until thats operating. I wish IRM could recieve the CTA 6000s 6101-6102 from the Fox River Trolley Museum and the CRT 5000 articulated car and the CTA bus collection, Flx #8499, GMC #301,# Flx 3706.
