jacksone44 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 What is happening with the CTA's four BRT's announced last year? Haven't heard anything in the news. What are the exact corridors, when will they open, are others planned? Well the city lost the congestion grant they were supposed to get in order to fund the implementation of the first four corridors (Jeffery Blvd, 79th St, Chicago Ave, and Halsted St.) due to not implementing congestion pricing model in the timely manner that the DOT requested. Apparently they can re-apply for the grant but don't know how its all going to work out. The original 58 buses that were supposed to start the service are still coming (as you may have heard by now) via 2009 stimulus funds, but highly doubt they will come in a BRT scheme. From what I hear there are future plans to convert most express service (on arterial roads such as X80, X49, X55, etc....). Quote
