trainman8119
Why is the 206 operated out of Forest Glen. Then entire rest of Evanston service is and always has been out of North Park. Why does this one particular route have buses that come from so far away ???
cta_44499_NP
while i'm not 100% on this...the best that i know is an issue that always has existed...equipment availability. North Park simply does not have enough busses (as can be seen by how many operators are seen sitting waiting for a bus at 8:30-9 in the morning and have to be put in place by the manager because they couldn't get a bus on time for pullout). Technically, the 206 is shared by North Park AND Forest Glen. It is NOT solely Forest Glen's route. Primarily in the morning, there are three full-trip buses out of the Glen with 206 trips incorporated into other runs, primarily off of 85 Central and 92 Foster for this pick, and two busses out of North Park, one full route tripper that pulls-out/pulls-in , and one school tripper that goes from Howard to Church/Dodge/ETHS, and then deadheads to begin the 136 via Church, Chicago, Clark, and Devon to Broadway. Another run works from Foster/Albany as a 93 Calif/Dodge to Church and then turns into a 206 up to Crawford/Central and pulls-in. The afternoon rush is basically set up the same way, with the mainline busses dominated by the Glen and the trippers by North Park. This is very similar to the way the 92 Foster route works. While it is PRIMARILY a Forest Glen street, it includes help in the same fashion as the 152 Addison does, with Forest Glen handling mainly the Jeff Pk-Berwyn Red fulls, and North Park does a few trips that operate from Northside Prep at Catalpa/Kedzie, via Kedzie, Brwn Mawr, Kimball, and Foster east to Berwyn, and a trip or two that begins at Damen/Amunsen HS to the station, and then pour out downtown as 146s or something else. 152s from North Park cover school service with different terminal points between Harlem and the lakefront (Cumberland service out of North Park primarily exists on days where schools are out early). Just some extra tidbits aside from your orginal question.
