sw4400
I saw a Red Eye article a few weeks back with a partially shown roof of a 1000-Series New Flyer(honestly I cannot locate the article on the RedEye site for the life of me) but what stood out was the first two numbers close to the driver's area were 69XX(I kid you not, a "6" and a "9" following it). I wish I could find the link or remember the name of the article so you can see it. It's probably a waste of time to post this, as it'll be nearly impossible for anyone to probably find that article with what little info I can give. But I know it was a New Flyer because it was a Low Floor bus with the New Flyer Alcoa Rims, no A/C on the roof and a circular CTA logo on the driver's side. Yes, another bus with a weird number placement is Flxible #6067. As most of us know the numbers on the newer buses are placed on the roofs laterally, the Flxibles have numbers placed vertically and laterally. Flxible #6067 reads "7606" vertically from the front of the bus down the center of the roof. The Novas so not have their numbers placed on the roof. The TMCs have them vertically. The roof numbering started back in 1995. The numbers were black and not very well done, all of the 5800s have them since they were the first buses to be used for the DNC convention in 1995. Some of the 5300s had them as well as some of the 6000s, following the rehab all of the 6000s now have roof numbers. All new deliveries have the numbers up top.
