tajahnhurley
what engines are in the flxible 6000 series cause some of them sound different.i love the ones with the engines that have a loud whistle effect almost like its tryna cry. especially when the engine kicks into 2nd gear and revs through it until it shifts to third gear.and then when its in 4th gear and its being accelerated all the way through to the end at high speed then slowing down (engine braking).cummins or detroit diesel series 50 and what engine or engines were in the americanas i really miss those. i do remember some of the engines in drive mode would stay in first gear for a extra long time, then skip 2 gear go into 3rd and then 4th i loved the sound of the engine when it did that shit.what causes the engines to do that cause i even heard it happen in the flxible 6000's novas and rts

The Flxibles numbered 6000 to 6304 are Detroit Diesels and #6305 to 6329 are equipped with the Cummins diesel engines which sound really cool. The MAN Americanas were standard MAN six cylinder diesels.

ctaboy
what sound does the 5800 New Flyers and the 7500 NABIs make ?
rmadisonwi
what sound does the 5800 New Flyers and the 7500 NABIs make ? The 5800s sound like: VRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH-VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH. The NABIs are more like: GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-GREOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH-GROO-GROO-GROO-GROO-GROO. But, a few NABIs sound like: RRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
speedracer1407
what sound does the 5800 New Flyers and the 7500 NABIs make ? The 5800s make a host of noises. Firstly, the turbo is VERY loud on these, especially sitting in the back. It takes a long time to spool up--most of the way through 1st gear-- but once spooled, it's piercingly loud in the farthest back seat. Good fun. Secondly, like the 1000s, the final drive (differencial gear) makes a low-pitched howl throughout its speed range. The 7500s, for all their general crapulence, don't make much interesting drivetrain noises. The turbo is audible, but not intrusive. Transmission wine is audible, but pretty subtle in most gears. 3rd gear has a distinct quiet whine, 4th is quiet, and 5 has a very subtle whine: you have to be paying close attention. The only really intrusive engine compartment noise on the NABI is the air conditioning generator, which I presume to be an auxiliary clutched alternator that kicks in to power the roof-mounted aircon units. You only here this when it's warm (obviously), and it's VERY loud. Sounds almost like a air compressor cart right behind your head. Come to think of it, the sound (which clearly comes from the engine compartment) could be the A/C compressor itself. But it seems strange to mount the compressor to a drive belt and then rout the air up to the A/C pacs on the roof.
