samana09
Hi, Does anyone know if Keeler Garage ever operated trolley buses? And if so, which models and what routes? I know it was an ex-CMC garage, and was kept open until 1973 primarily for service on the Diversey and Addison routes. But it was also located directly on a trolley bus route, at Diversey and Keeler. The 76 Diversey was a trolley bus line west of Western Ave, before it was converted and combined with the former CMC Diversey motor bus route. Thanks,

All trolley buses were operated by Chicago Railways. The main storage location was at the North and Cicero barn, although there were storage lots elsewhere, including near the current Forest Glen. CTA had trolley buses only at N and F, as far as the north side is concerned. At least in the later years, Keeler was pretty much only 8500 series Flxs. 52 garage was on Cottage Grove, but CMC didn't operate street cars, either. But I had initially wondered why 4 buses were not from there.

Thanks, All Diversey trolley coaches operated from the North Ave. garage. The CMC portion was the Diversey route that operated to downtown. Keeler garage closed the same day the last trolley coaches tied up at North Ave. March 25th 1973. North Ave. Garage operated all Diversey buses after that until 1986 when North ave. closed. The route was transferred to Forest Glen, it operated there until 1994 with the opening of Chicago Ave. Garage
