trainman8119
I don't know when you saw these back in service, because they have been sitting in the yard at Western Avenue for months now. When Metra retired the 600 series locos, 611 and 614 were kept because they were the only 2 that Metra owned...the rest were leased (and were sold). The plan is to refurb them and then keep them for work trains and spares in case of emergency. During the winter on a couple of occasions because the MP36 junks kept breaking down, they were pressed into service because there was a shortage of power. They have been shuttled between track 1 west and track 9 east in the yard since December and have not been used.
