andrethebusman
2700-2750 retirementsThis rarely-remembered series of propane Brills were an almost accidental purchase in 1951. 2700, the lone C-48 had been a demonstrator for the New York Board of Transportation, and was eventually converted to MEU-2, which was one of the Medical Department's mobile physical examination units that went from garage to garage giving drivers their annual physicals. Sold 10/7/83 to Illinois Scrap2701-2750 were available because they were a cancelled Oahu Ry & Light Co (Hawaii) order, apparently built for a service expansion that never occurred as OR&L was not at the time Honolulu's main transit operator, but instead ran a railway line around Oahu. CTA was able to get delivery of these buses starting two weeks after the order was placed. They spent their entire lives at 69th and 77th garages.2700.txt
