1700-1799 Twin 44S

3598-3697 White 798

6531-6630 GM TDH4507

These three hundred buses were CTA's very first bus purchases, when CTA took over the tentative orders placed in 1946 by the Chicago Dept of Subways & Superhighways to equip a system of feeder bus lines to the State and Dearborn subways if the Chicago Rapid Transit Co had been declared hopeless and the existing Ls scrapped. When this did not occur, CTA took the 300 buses to continue replacing streetcars.

White 3648 was wrecked in 1954 and scrapped at South Shops

Twin BW36 was the bus stop sign installation bus for almost 10 years until sold 6-14-72 to Wilson

GM work buses BW41 was sold for scrap 12/69, while BW42 sold 4-17-78 to Wilson

16 of the 6531-6630 series were converted to salt spreader/plow buses. They were replaced in 1976 by trucks and all scrapped by Pielet as follows:

BA167 12-6-76

BA169 12-3-76

BA170 12-8-76

BA171 12-8-76

BA172 12-15-76

BA185 12-3-76

BA186 12-6-76

BA187 12-6-76

BA188 12-28-76

BA189 12-28-76

BA190 12-6-76

BA191 12-21-76

BA192 12-20-76

BA193 12-21-76

BA194 12-15-76

6547 was the "last Mohican" that outlasted all other 6500's by several years and last ran on 16-Lake until the arrival of the 3700's
