VMC is under new ownership...it's now called Raeda Dynamics and is under Chinese ownership...their website says it offers a 30 and 38 ft CNG or clean diesel model called the Medius...Lastly it says that they;ll be coming out next year with a new model called the Accedo(probably electric).

If its Chinese owned, its no longer eligible for US transit contracts, and if it didn't continue the Lightning, isn't in the electric bus business. Again, the only immediate result may be that RBC got its money.

Update: Note the Canadian flags on the language pulldown.

Presently, it doesn't have an electric model, just have to wait and see about the Accedo. Lastly, they can sell their buses in the US to private contactors such as Transdev , who provide transit services to transit agencies, colleges and airports.

VMC had one. Read this post (I'm concluding that no one here reads what is posted before them.) Click on the linked video. Apparently the scavengers were not willing to carry the Lightning forward.

The ban on purchases from Chinese owned bus manufacturers (including BYD) is on those that use federal funds, and sometimes the colleges and airports buy the shuttle buses. I don't know, in the current environment, if a private operator would want to rely on Chinese repair parts.

Anyway, as I noted above (did you read it?) the website (you didn't provide a link, so I won't) is directed to Canada, and while it was asserted that VMC was Buy America Act compliant because it had a Washington plant, this company isn't.

Spoiler

VMC was a victim of the supply chain problem that hindered all bus manufacturers the past three years. I agree that the Vicinity lighting model was a failure, Calagry Transit had an order for them that they cancelled. Their CNG and diesel models were sold to BC Transit, Windsor transit, along with other Canadian transit agencies. I  know that MARTA in Atlanta and some colleges and airports use them.
