Busjack
In light of pace2322's post that Fox Valley was losing most of its 6600s, I was wondering if that was really a loss of capacity. Snooping around Waukegan and Highland Park, a 2423 has 29 seats, but a 6600 has only 25 (apparently the older ones get in another row by using plastic seats). A 2600 has 27 seats. Is the rear door enough to justify the 35 foot bus over the 30 footer? Is there any other advantage to the 35 foot bus, like standing room? Or was the purchase of the 35 footers, in retrospect, a mistake? (I know that pace2322 doesn't like NABIs.) BTW, while snooping in Waukegan, a 2423 on route 571 was packed with standees (looked like mostly students), while 572 was running a 2300. Is this a misallocation of resources, in that at the 4:00 p.m. departure point, it looked like all the routes met?
