jajuan
I rode 6618 on the X49 Western Express this afternoon and noticed that all the seats in the front of the bus except those directly behind the driver faced inward instead of forward. I didn't realize that the experiments in seating arrangements was done with buses as well as that done with the L last year.
Kevin
Yes, they did do a longitudinal seating test on that bus. Luckily, it appears they never decided to run with it. Longitudinal seating on a bus is a particularly bad idea given the constant stop-and-go motions. Not a very comfortable situation. On the rail side of things, there's a chance longitudinal seating may not be around in the post-prototype 5000s. The main proponent of longitudinal seating is no longer working for the Authority and there's a new guy in charge of the design who may make some changes. (If anyone is a fan of the faux wood paneling, you might be disappointed...)
