Busjack
I found this link and am bringing it to attention: http://www.chicagomaroon.com/2009/1/13/cta...ervice-new-dorm However, I'm finding it unclear if this new #173 will be bi-directional?The only significance to that is that U of C sold the Shoreland Hotel, which was used as a dorm since the mid-70s, and is building a new dorm at 61st and Ellis. The bidrectional might be implied by: Wolf said that the bus will allow students coming from anywhere in the city to connect to the new #173 and take this bus directly to the center of campus. However, no one knows what is in Wolf's head (and whether he is a person with any authority or influence). The really odd thing is: "This new bus will mean increased student welfare, will allow students to interact with the city more often, as well as encourage students to get out of Hyde Park and explore the neighborhoods and cultures," Wolf said. When I was there, the attitude was basically isolationist. While I rode CTA, most said "If you go downtown ride the IC." Of course, the socialists shopped only at the Hyde Park Coop, now out of business. I didn't care for it, even though for a year I lived across the street (technically across half the street). I'll reserve my private route comment.
