sw4400
"why does the 79 79th Street route sometimes ends its trip at 81st/Pulaski ?" Now it's understandable I've personally never ridden the #79 route, but I'll try my best to see if I can give you a possible answer using another Bus Route I'm familiar with (#80)... The Irving Park bus (#80) generally heads west to Harlem or Cumberland, depending on the route assigned to the operator. There are the occassional routes that terminate at Central, however. This is usually due to the operator's shift ending and he/she is required to bring the bus back to the garage(in this case, Forest Glen Garage). That, or the bus is experiencing mechanical problems, but is drivable for a short trip, or the bus is low on fuel and must return for more. This might answer your question, but I cannot say for sure if it will... only those familiar with #79 might know if this helps answering your question. T8H5307A
There are 5 runs that go to 81st in the weekday afternoon between 2:30 and 3:30pm. Bogan High School is right there at 79th/Pulaski. Those short turns would be for the dismissal of the students. There are also trips that start/end at 82nd/Vincennes for Simeon High School. Also, some trips go to 77th/Central for St. Lawrence Queen of Peace High School. The 79 has a lot of variations. Some serve the Solo Cup facility at 7575 S Kostner. Some trips only go to Western Ave.
