gouache23
I was driving on the Dan Ryan a few weeks ago, and I saw a flatbed truck hauling three mini CTA buses. They looked like the little cars that Shriners drive around, only they were CTA buses. They were incredibly detailed, down to the bus signage and the bike racks. THEY WERE SO CUTE. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they owned by the CTA? What do they use them for??? - Elizabeth www.canastamusic.com
sw4400
I saw these vehicles in a Octoberfest parade on Lincoln a year or two back. I remember someone commenting that the CTA "makes their buses smaller and smaller every year." I believe that they are used for parades only. RIPTA42
Those are the new Optima Opus buses . Just kidding... They're for children to ride on at the Roadeo; the CTA also has mini L cars hauled by a steam locomotive.
gouache23
MINI-L CARS HAULED BY A STEAM LOCOMOTIVE are you kidding me? Does it go on a track? That is incredible. Where/when is the Roadeo?!??!?! I want to go. Thanks so much for all the info, Elizabeth www.canastamusic.com
RIPTA42
No, they're the same type of little cart as the buses. I have photos of them somewhere. The Bus Roadeo/Rail Rodeo is annual competitive event for bus and train operators and maintainers, and an open house for employees' families. It's usually on a Saturday in July or August, at Skokie Shops and is not open to the public.
