I think we should get New 3900 Series Cars delivered Christmas 2005 (that will never happen lol) and I think we should have ordered the 3500 Series in 2001 seeing how the 2200 Series are the oldest and due for replacement because lately these Cars have been breaking down as I rided the Blue Line last Week. If there was 3900 Series Cars , I would have them on the Blue, Green, Brown, Yellow, Purple, Orange and the Future Grey and Circle Lines.

The 3500 Series was going to be ordered a few years back, but the purchase was delayed when the CTA decided to purchase AC cars instead of DC cars. The CTA is currently reviewing bids for what likely will be the 1000 Series. Delivery would begin in 2008.

I am just wondering. Are not the New Flyers going to be 1000 series buses ???? I remember from a thread awhile back that you said that they CTA would not cross number their inventories for some reason that escapes me at the current moment, right down to buses not having 3 digit numbers because maintenance trucks have those numbers.  Anyway, wouldn't that require the "L" cars to have a different numbered series ??

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing. A recent issue of First and Fastest claimed the cars would be the 1000 Series, as the switch from DC to AC warranted a break in the current strand of numbering.
