ajcalcote
Twice this morning, I spotted 6400-series buses on two express routes: 1. #6433 on bus line #X28 going northbound towards Union Station,on 47th and Lake Park, at 7:50 a.m.; and 2. #6704 on bus line #148 going southbound towards Congress and Michigan, on Jackson and Michigan, at approximately 8:10 a.m. I believe these occurrences are rare. They are rare for express routes. However, 6704 is a NP bus, so the buses in the 6692-6707 range may pop up occasionally on some routes operated at least partially out of NP. #6433 is a 77th bus; however, it might be an interline from one of the downtown feeder routes operated partly out of 77th. jajuan
It's rare for express routes to a certain degree but not in general. It can be rare for the northside express routes in that NP primarily puts its Novas on the #49 Western and Kedzie, the other garage currently operating northside express runs, has none. So the 40ft bus you're more likely than not to see doing express runs is a NF 800, 900, or 1000 series with mostly being a 1000 filling northside runs. It's not necessarily rare to see them operating as express buses on South Lake Drive since 77th does operate the #2 Hyde Pk Express in part. When you see them on South Lake Shore, it's more likely you'll see them as a #2. When you see them on any of the other South LSD express routes, it's probably from 103rd borrowing a bus from 77th during a time the South Shops hasn't finished maintenance on buses 103rd may have sent there for heavy maintenance and a bus was needed to fill a run or possible interlining from something else for which 77th is currently sharing the work with 103rd as suggested by RJL6000. In this case reported, X28 is supposed to be solely a 103rd route, so it's a good chance it was a loaner.
qwantae
I spotted #6663 on 79-79th Route this late evening on Bus Tracker. That bus doesn't belong to 77th or was it borrowed from 74th?
