Guest DevalDragon Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 I went by the 79th Street Garage, and they were several rows of TMCs and Flexible Metros ready for Scrap. All had "SCRAP" painted on them in several places, plus 'tires replaced', 'A/C removed', 'tank drilled', 'fluids drained' and 'tires replaced' written on them. They also had their license plates removed. Where do scrap CTA Vehicles end up? Do they have a specific Salvage Yard they use, or are they cut up on site? Quote
TMC-RTS-08 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Wow, CTA still has some of these left? I thought majority of the TMCs and old Flxs were already scrapped. The place where CTA sends these is a scrap yard at S Ewing and 95th. I swung by that scrap yard back in 2008 and saw lines of TMCs there ready to be shredded. Quote

A while back I posted some pics of TMCs at the scrapper. I had a chance to enter the scrao yard and get close up to the buses. These pics can be found in the "Whats left of 4400s" section on this site. Quote
Busjack Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Were the Flxs 5300s or 6000s? 5300s should be old news, while 6000s would possibly be news. Quote
Guest DevalDragon Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 6000s. 6028, 6265 and 6087 were some of the numbers. Were the Flxs 5300s or 6000s? 5300s should be old news, while 6000s would possibly be news. Quote
