And if you look up above in the that the single asterisk is next to both the $2.25 current L fare using Ventra transit value and next to the $5 O'Hare premium bringing me to my point that the fare chart implies the $5 seems to only apply if riding the Blue Line from O'Hare is your first or only ride as opposed to the admittedly slim instance of if you rode a Pace #250 or #330 bus first and transferred to the Blue Line as I laid out. The fare chart though seems to imply that the $5 only applies to when boarding at O'Hare is your first ride since the footnote about the premium fare is linked to both the $2.25 Ventra first ride L fare and the $5 O'Hare premium fare entries. jajuan is correct. I did this this past summer returning from the Blue Nose Brwy. in Hodgkins. The return route was the Pace route #330 to O'Hare, and the Blue Line “L” back southeast. I was charged only 25¢ for the transfer.
Mike44
Hi All, Despite all my transit fan skills and talents, I wasn’t able to find the following information regarding PACE-CTA transfers. I thought this thread might be a good place to ask it: Is there any transfer fare available between PACE and CTA when someone is using a 1-day pass on CTA? I plan to take the PACE bus from Elk Grove Village to Rosemont, then ride the L trains all day, and return to Elk Grove the same way. Would I need to pay a regular single fare for each of the PACE bus trips, or would I get any discount? I do have a Ventra card from my previous visit. Thanks. Tcmetro
If you are using a 1,3, or 7 day CTA pass there is no Pace transfer discount. If you pay using the Ventra stored value, transfers work between CTA and Pace. If you are planning to just do a CTA+Pace trip and return, it may be cheaper to just use stored value. If you are planning more extensive CTA use, I'd recommend going with the 1-day pass and paying the extra fare for the Pace buses you need to take.
Mike44
Thanks a lot! That's what thought, I will need to pay for PACE separately if using the one-day CTA pass.
