Busjack
I noted the link on the home page to Area Transit Agencies to Get Federal Oversight, apparently as part of the MAP-21 transportation bill. What hit me was not only "The changes have been recommended for years by the National Transportation Safety Board, following a CTA Blue Line subway derailment and fire in 2006..." but also the equivocal statement "CTA already has a comprehensive rail system safety program in place," CTA spokeswoman Molly Sullivan said. "Like all transit agencies impacted by this new law, CTA will work with federal authorities to ensure we are in compliance." Then the article goes on to what agency, given IDOT and the incompetent RTA, is going to enforce this, showing the level of governance dysfunction in local transit. But as some purported former CTA employee told us, apparently the rest of us don't have to worry about CTA safety.
Kimball401
That was until about six months ago, now the NTSB and the FTA are no longer hearing CTA's excuses and that's why things been off the wall lately.
