Obviously it varies by route, but on Key routes, are we talking 12 hours per day? 8? 20? Also, how many of those hours do you think are spent idling at the garage or at turn-arounds? Thanks. I think that it's different for each bus. Not every bus on a given route has the same type of schedule. I've seen the same 103rd NABI assigned to 3 different routes in one day. Busjack Posted February 13, 2008 Report Share Posted February 13, 2008 I don't have the run information, but basically CTA rush hours are approximately 5:30 to 9:30 a.m., and 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. During that time, nearly all the buses are on the street. At other times during the day, a garage might be half full (the only one I can personally verify in that regard is Forest Glen, which is an open lot, visible from the streets). The other half of the buses would be on the street, but as other observers on the street note, some buses come in and go out. If you are near a garage at about 2 or 6 pm, you can see the procession in and out. Out in the lighter parts of Pace territory, there are some buses that work only two 2-hour stints, and others that are out from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Following WebWatch, there are also instances where a bus originally on a school trip at 2:30 p.m. then takes over a regular run at 3:30, and the bus that was on that run from 7:30 to 3:30 either goes to the garage or takes over one of the 2 hour routes.
