dauber Posted May 3, 2009 Report Share Posted May 3, 2009 So...my wife and I took the Lawrence bus from Western on Friday night, and we noticed when the bus pulled up the display, along with the usual "#81 LAWRENCE" message, scrolled "This route will be eliminated" (or something close to that), and at one point during the ride the bus driver mumbled something that we couldn't quite make out that might have been related...all we could make out was "Attention, riders; attention, riders..." in a monotone voice. If you can let me know a specific time and location, that would be helpful, too (I might be able to find the bus number that way; you can PM that info to me if you want). Two things to explain your sighting: 1- The "THIS ROUTE WILL ELIMINIATED" was a P/S message that could be displayed at time of the last CTA budget crisis on routes on the chopping block. Since this was a P/S display, the driver pretty much could put it on any sign. I am not saying this was deliberate, it could of been accidental or already there and the driver didn't know. Rest assurred, a route like the 81 wouldn't be going anyplace anyway! 2- The "monotone" voice you heard was not the driver....it actually is a P/S message that can be played thru the CleverDevice.
