jesi2282
I was just going on a ride on the 173 U-Chicago route last January, I was waiting for the 6:10 pm bus at the Belmont/Halsted turnaround, I sat there watching 156 buses go in and out, It was now 6:32 pm, The bus was over a half-hour late. I went up to a Flxable 6000 bus and told the driver where the 173 was, he had no idea what I was talking about. Finally at 6:40 pm an old RTS 4900 bus pulled up next to the Flixable. The old flip dot sign was un readable,a very mad bus driver, and a un heated bus was not a good combination. Once going at least 50 mph on north LSD (I felt like I was in the movie SPEED), we reached Michigan Ave. At Deleware a person on a wheelchair wanted to get in but couldn't the mad driver closed the door and rushed on Michigan Ave, Once more we were going 50 mph on South LSD, The bus was now back on the timetable, I talked to the now nice woman driver going back north. People waiting on North Ave for 72 were yelling at because we did not stop. I was able to finish the route. She said come on lets do it one more time( In my mind I said, what the hell this is the last time I am going to ride a 4900), I got on and didn't have to pay and I did it twice. Why was that Driver even in a 4900 TMC RTS for anyways? He should have got a NovaBus or a New Flyer.
Busjack
It wasn't a 4400, but a 4900, which until the Orions were assigned, was the regular on the U of Chicago routes, which, until about a week ago, were designated not accessible.
