Busjack
...On black Friday (im sure u know what that is), they held a lot of runs in due to lack of manpower.. Since going into Black Friday isn't technically More Bus Moves, a new topic... I always wondered about scheduling the day after Thanksgiving as a normal workday, in that there wouldn't be a demand for, say LaSalle Street service, or, on the Pace side, for reverse feeders, but, nonetheless they run on normal schedules. On the other hand, given all the shoppers out, you would think CTA would need more equipment, say, on North Michigan. Now, not only are you saying that they run the regular schedule, but they don't have the help to do it, so they can't, and can't make proper adjustments? Let me put it this way...the LaSalle's ran (I worked a tripper as one)....five people at the most. I cannot speak for Michigan as I was working 93 California/Dodge (no such thing as black friday there! ) However, Michigan avenue is a mess. Previous years were different as far as manpower so I'm sure this year was chaos!
rmadisonwi
Some trippers were scheduled to be held in that day. Many transit systems run a regular weekday schedule on days like that. A plan to run a reduced rush-hour schedule is being considered, but it requires a completely separate pick, because the work rules would require an operator who picked a particular run to get paid (provided, of course, that he shows up for work) even if the run is held in.
