jesi2282
I was looking at some old CTA bus pictures from the mid 90's one of them was a New Flyer D40LF bus but for some reason it had this type of huge celling on top of it called ''Clean Machine'', in the picture it was on route 20 Madison, I was never able to get on one of them because there were only 3 of them, Does any one know about these buses, Or have photos? Kevin
The "Clean Machine" New Flyers were experimental hydrogen-powered buses that were in service between 1997 and 2000. Since then they have remained on the property and I believe the CTA recently put out a procurement to have them converted to diesel, but I'm not sure of the specifics of this.
