Busjack Posted November 2, 2010 Report Share Posted November 2, 2010 Do you think IRM would ever install a "third rail" to run the 2000s, 2200s and all current equipment that will be retired one day? Since none of these cars can be coupled with the 6000s or 1-50s, IRM only options would be to modify them so they can run on the trolley poles or leave them a static exhibits. I'm sure that the issue is liability. While it is hard enough for CTA to keep people off the tracks, I find it hard to conceive how IRM could have 600 volt rails on essentially a farm property accessible to roaming visitors, unless the rapid transit area were fenced off from the rest.
