Does anyone knows if the cta charters out their Historical Fleet?

I doubt it! CTA is so worried about ©overing (T)heir (A)ss!! I think they would have a liability issue about chartering thier buses. I may be wrong but I dont think transit systems charter their buses out anymore.

The issues implied by 5750 is who would you get the drive the bus (I don't think CTA is in the habit of calling in drivers from the extra board to do it) and whether they have CDLs and necessary insurance.

However, if you are in movie production, you may be in luck. Looking at the Filming and Photography page,* it says:

We also keep three vintage buses circa 1960, which may be available for period pieces. Restoration costs will apply for using this equipment.

....

Specialized personnel can be hired as needed: Bus Operators, Rapid Transit Operators, Customer Assistants, Laborers, etc.

*A CTA Tattler post about whether a KFC commercial was taped on the L reminded me of that page.

Big production studios not only charter from CTA they can charter from museums for extended periods. Remember the #6656-#6655 "L" cars used in the production of Ali. They were around on CTA property for a few weeks. So I suppose anything is possible if you have the cash to back it up. You may even be able to charter out #9799 but that's up to it's owners.
