what does the reputation rating mean? How does it work?

I probably shouldn't answer for Kevin, but it is based on the green plus and red minus buttons at the bottom of each message. Someone else clicks a plus under one of your messages and you go up a point.

I've used it, but don't believe in it because of "ganging up."

Update: As in that someone gave me a -1 for this for no apparent reason.
