CURRENTZ_09
The 4080 i saw on Fond Du Lac still looks like it could do about a couple more years but they have kept that bus hidden in recent years im shocked about the 4500 series being eliminated so early also it seems that they will repaint the fleet as i have seen buses between the 4600 thur 5000 series repainted with the new color scheme, it makes me wonder if the 4300 series will retire by late 2011 early 2012 but seeing the 4000-4100 series fleet leave is a piece of history that some will remember others may not, but we must move on to the future and focus on new memories with the new clean diesel 5100 series fleet
mkebusfan88
I saw bus 4059 on Route 30 this afternoon, hanging on to life. Was actually surprised to see one of the original MCTS New Flyers still kicking, hadn't seen one in probably over a month!
MCTSfan_90
I saw bus 4059 on Route 30 this afternoon, hanging on to life. Was actually surprised to see one of the original MCTS New Flyers still kicking, hadn't seen one in probably over a month! I saw 4059 twice yesterday. The first time was at 7:00am on Route 23 leaving downtown, heading out to Bradley Woods. And the second time was a little after 4:30pm on Route 30 heading to 67th & Keefe, which is what I ended up on heading home

In my opinion, that bus (along with 4085) looks like it could do a few more years (about 4-5 tops)

I hope they retro fit these features onto the 5100-series. It's sad because this truly means that all of the 1996-97 4000-4100-4200 series buses are now officially retired from regular services and it seems that MCTS is moving forward with repainting the entire fleet with the new color sccheme introduced on the 5100-series, this is a good and bad choice.Good because now it makes the transit system have a look that is truly milwaukee but bad because the old color scheme really grew on riders and people that didnt use transit knew that this was truly an MCTS bus. but all good things must come to an end and it seems that the repaint might be finished by spring 2012
MCTSfan_90
I haven't seen any of the 5200s today, but I did see one yesterday afternoon at The Downtown Transit Center, pulling out as the Rt. 12, heading to 92nd-Hampton.

CURRENTZ_09
The 2011 Straight to the gate brochure is out and it features bus 5128 on the cover just like the 2011 transit guide and the updated rider insider brochure. 5128 must be the face of MCTS for 2011 and remember to enjoy these special summer freeway flyers they might not be around for 2012
