Paul Fortini
I found this really neat, humorous little video shot at Illinois Railway Museum in 1979 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3-YtfUB0IE Not only is it pretty clever, but it's interesting to see how sparse IRM looked back then! Fewer buildings, no 6000s or 5-50s on the property as they were still in service on the CTA. And doesn't Nick Kallas look like one of the Superfans from the old "Saturday Night Live" recurring skit? Busjack
Ah, for the days before computer generated credits. I don't think that the 4000 was used on the Loop Shuttle, but at least its roll sign worked. I doubt that the matchbox car (1374?) was restored then, either. sw4400
I heard the CTA might be hiring "Honest Nick" to sell off the 200+ remaining NABI's on the south lots. So if you're interested in a used NABI 60-LFW in "good" condition, see Honest Nick. His prices are so low, it's a steal!!!

However, as I implied with regard to the Loop Shuttle, he might not be so honest. :D

That "Used on Loop Shuttle" might have been a spoof on such phrases as "Owned by old lady who only drove it to church."
Paul Fortini
I'm in the market for a trolleybus. I wonder if Honest Nick will sell me #9763 (the Queen Mary)? After all, it's a "rare gem", a "one of a kind" model that "just needs a little work".
Busjack
On the Honest Nick one, I see that they could get the trolley pole up. And there wasn't Viagra in those days. Maybe more serious, there was a link on that page to the 2011 IRM Trolley Pageant. Among other things, I see that 4391 is running, and there is that certain "trolley car" sound that one can't mistake. Also, near the end, the old IC cars which I remember starting to be retired around 1972 (especially when one took out the Highliner). Now the Highliners are supposed to be gone. I don't know if IRM would want one.
Paul Fortini
Can anybody tell me what the name of the song used in the video? It sounds very Burt Bacharach/Hal David-ish. One of my co-workers suggested that it might be from the old "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid" soundtrack.
