Busjack
I don't know if this would work, but it crossed my mind while riding the 226 Oakton. The 85A mirrors most of the Central Ave portion of this route. What if the Oakton portion of the 226 were through routed with the Oakton portion of the 97 Skokie to Howard and the 85A were combined with the portion of the 97 along Niles Center serving Dempster station and the Old Orchard Shopping Center? .... Something like that was proposed by Pace consultants with respect to the 2005 restructuring in 2003 in connection with the BRT from Lake Cook Road to Jefferson Park (via the Skokie Valley r.o.w.). All of that quickly died with the second round of workshops. The current hitch is that CTA and Pace are not cooperating, except to the extent CTA could have been convinced last year just to cancel 85A.
