andrethebusman
Since the three Ballard/New Flyer Fuel cell buses have been sitting in the back at 77th for years now after CTA determined they could not be rebuilt as diesels, here is a bit of odd information that has passed by my ears:Coast Mountain Bus Co in Vancouver Canada was also the recipient of three of these little machines, and same as here, when the "test period" was over, Ballard "withdrew their support". However, CMBC was smart enough not to buy them, they just leased them, so back to Ballard they went. Here is where it gets a bit interesting. Two of them WERE in fact rebuilt by New Flyer as Diesel-electric hybrids (7244 and 7246) and sold to CMBC as such, and are apparently still in service. The third one (7245) remained a fuel cell bus, and was peddled to NASA Tours at Cape Kennedy FL, where I guess the technogeeks figure they can keep it running as a technical curiosity.
garmon757
We already have a topic about the 5900s (#5900's report on Ballard Fuel Cell Bus by sw4400). This is some interesting information but why didn't you put it in that topic?
