Kevin Posted August 28, 2021 Report Share Posted August 28, 2021 A friend to many in the Chicago railfan community, Greg Stepanek passed away early Friday morning following a battle with cancer. As a decades-long employee of the Chicago Transit Authority, Greg produced countless publications for the agency, including overseeing CTA's printed maps as well as selecting the photos and writing many of the captions for CTA's historical calendars. Greg was a dedicated volunteer at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois where he frequently enjoyed serving as motorman for the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee as well as CTA's Green Hornet streetcar. Greg was a lifelong Chicago resident and loved to tell stories and educate others about his favorite city. Service and funeral arrangements. He will be missed.
