Despite some assertions about "amazing" rail, CNN has a story entitled Britain invented trains. Now its railway system seems to be having a nervous breakdown. Appears that money has been cut from high-speed rail, as well as "Congestion, neglected Victorian infrastructure and frequent strikes" plus COVID passenger losses and an unsuccessful effort to privatize and then reconstitute the system, have resulted in a mess. But I don't think Duchess Katherine has to ride the train.?

I read about the HS2 mess every day in the Guardian.  It's not going to go to the train station in Central London & it's not going to go past Birmingham now, according to the totally dysfunctional Conservative government there, which will be thrown out in the next general election & replaced by Labour.  Maybe Labour will get HS2 back on track.

Rishi Sunak has certainly not helped this situation out

Looks that way, but 30 or so years of Tory governments led to this.
