New thread Here.

During my 2 Day Short vacation in San Diego on October 1st and 2nd, 2025 respectively (my first visit there).

On October 1st, 2025, I took many photos and videos of San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Buses and LRV Trains at Old Town Transportation Center where my youngest sister and I rode the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train from the Union Station in DTLA earlier that morning. Also newest 2025 New Flyer XN40 are in the video as well. Located off I-5 & I-8 freeway.

Here's the 2 photos of 2613's headsigns on Route 88 switching from Old Town to Hotel Circle.

And on October 2nd, 2025 during my last day of short 2 day vacation in San Diego, brand new 2025 New Flyer XN40 unit 318 on the road passing through LA Jolia.

There are three things that interest me whenever I'm down there:

  • Classic Cars galore
  • The Airport Bus line is underrated (but its time for them to get a light rail train).
  • The way both agencies (NCTD and MTS) coordinate differently.

To your last point— no timed transfer setups at Gilman, UTC or Escondido?

I agree, majority of the classic cars around LA Jolia area are there all around. I took it near the Private BMW Classic Car Collection place where the buses pass there and one of the cars were full restored in 100% condition; didn't have any time to talk to the owner of the establishment, and IIRC on October 3rd, 2025, I saw one Gillig Low Floor CNG on Route 992 dropping off the passengers there at San Diego International Airport departure lounge during the early morning hours. I was there early at the airport that morning to catch my last flight from San Diego to San Francisco Bay Area.

Too bad I don't have any time to visit the Downtown Area of San Diego due to some concerns about drug addicts and homeless people in the area there or go through the border to Visit Tijuana to see if any of old white and blue Flxibles, Gilligs, Flyers, Rts etc.  Are stSince San Diego is located 17 to 20 miles south of the USA/Mexico Border of Tijuana, BC, Mexico, The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) connects San Diego to Tijuana via the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley, which terminates at the San Ysidro Transit Center directly adjacent to the U.S.–Mexico border.  (San Ysidro Port of Entry Border Crossing)

For those who aren't familiar with now defunct Hank's Truck Pictures website from 1997-2019:

I've learned that from now defunct Hank's Truck Pictures 12 years ago when the trucking site was up then when I was 14 years old and webmaster Hank Suderman and his family went to San Diego circa mid 2000s and he took one of the then new Siemens LRV Trains what was built in 2004 operating on the tracks. Sadly the trucking site went out of business in 2019 and the trucking forum in 2020 respectively due to trucking foamers stealing multiple pictures of trucks from their original owners and posting them on their social media platforms without their consent and Hank was fed up with the trolls behavior on his site.

At this point, majority of the 2011-12 New Flyer C40LFRs are retired and some were donated to LACMTA for 2026 FIFA World Cup Soccer Games used for shuttle routes and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

P.S This is dedicated to the fallen colleague of bus driver Eddie Anthony who passed away last year June 11 at 43 years old one month shy of his 44th birthday which was his memorial service on July 19th. Last week he would have been 45 years old.
