Canadien National

Recommended Posts

Canadien National Railroad is at it again. In a story on the ABC 7 website, CN is not allowing Amtrak to run trains on its line after an agreement was struck. This is the same thing that happened with the added trains on the Antioch line. There might be a slight difference in that the agreement Metra had was with the Wisconsin Central, and then the WC was purchased by the CN. However, CN is the beneficiary of the money Metra (and all of the goverment agencies) put in to adding track, signals, etc....only to welch out on the agreements that have been made. Now, it looks like that are doing it to Amtrak....once again after receiving benefits related to expansion.

Maybe someone should take back what they have been given !!!!

Apparently CN backed down, according to the Tribune. According to a WJOB report, CN also was protesting against NICTD's West Lake Corridor proposal to run commuter trains on its tracks from Munster to Valparaiso. At least that is just in the alternatives analysis stage (more money for the consultants).
